The crown of thorns headpiece was commissioned for Johnny Marr NME cover shoot “The Last Temptation of Johnny Marr”.

The brief was to use guitar strings so I chose bass strings as they have a good weight and proportion, and left the protective red thread on the ends to reference the blood from the thorns. We used the same type of strings to ‘tie’ Johnny on to the cross at the shoot.
